National Engineering Technology Research Center for Preservation of Agricultural Products

The National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Preservation of Agricultural Products (CPAP) is an associated institute in responsible for promoting the development of freshness industrialization in China. It was formally approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, China in 1998 and constituted by Tian-Jin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. CPAP has focused its efforts on biological and technological research in the areas of post-harvest storage, treatment, shipping, packaging, handing and distribution of agronomic and horticultural crops. Facilities, preservatives and packaging materials relative to fresh-keep are also partially. As the CPAP’s economic body, Tianjin Luda Freshness Protection Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd. Has been registered in Tianjin Science and Technology Industrial Zone.

Research, invention and extension of post-harvest technology and engineering are linked together as the profile of CPAP., and the center is constituted by 6 research sections including food processing, post-harvest physiology, post-harvest pathology, preservatives and packaging materials, storage facility, agricultural products safety and quality detection. Tianjin Luda Freshness Protection Engineering & Technology Co.,Ltd. s, which belongs to CPAP, is constituted by 5 departments as follows: supplying, producing, market, science and technology and finance.

187 workers constitute the CPAP and Tianjin Luda Ltd. Corp., among which is 30 highly qualified researchers (including 8 doctors and 9 masters). As the coordinator of the Chinese Association for Preservation of Agricultural Products and the team leader of the National “Good Fruit” research Cooperative, CPAP has run 57 of training/education/workshop programs for post-harvest technology around China and invited 7 foreign professor as advisors. It was a feature of CPAP that “small institute but huge net”.

According to advanced technology home and abroad and long time of research and practice in post-harvest field of fruits and vegetables, CPAP’ has developed tens of LUDA brand preservatives for fruits and vegetables. The preservatives are wide spectrum, highly efficient antiseptic, and safe food additives, can extend the storage period of tens of fruits and vegetables. The preservatives were research products of National ‘the Ninth Five-Year’ Key Projects“Post-harvest Technology for Fruits and Vegetables”,which had acquired the Second Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Advancement.

Fresh keeping plastic films manufactured by CPAP have acquired national patent. The plastic film is soft, anti-fog in low temperature and has modified atmosphere effect. The research and manufacture of the films had acquired the Second Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Advancement. The quality of fruits and vegetables kept in the plastic film is apparently better than that in common plastic film.

Mini energy-saving cold facilities, mini low pressure store and integrated equipment developed by CPAP have acquire many patents and is popular in China because of integrated serves.

Supported by the science and technology project and achievement by CPAP, Tianjin Luda Freshness Protection Engineering & Technology Co.,Ltd. manufactured 4 main types of products including Mini energy—saving cold facilities, Fresh keeping plastic films, preservatives and fruits bags. The products named as Luda brand have extended to almost all provinces of China.
